Head Equipment Tech

Bentbrook Golf Course

$22.00- $24.00 hour 

Full time position

Club pays a portion of insurance. 

Club pays for select continuing education opportunities/ meetings. 

Head tech will be responsible for all equipment maintenance and up keep. Order parts and supplies and budgeting repairs. 

He will work with the super to develop a long range plan in replacing pieces and bringing in replacements. 

He will work with the super to help carry out the agronomy plan for the golf course. 

This is a great opportunity for a head tech to mentor men and teach the art of golf course equipment and Shop maintenance. ( will explain program in interview) 

We have a nice facility with 2 lifts, enclosed Foley bed knife and reel grinders. 

3 Bay’s, a separate parts room, separate oil room, separate grinding room, and own office. 

Over head air, oil, and Greece.

The shop has its own door locks and not a walk through place for employees or a hang out for employees. 

This is a great opportunity for an assistant tech ready to take on the opportunity of running his own faculty. We have en excellent support staff and program to help you succeed! 

Hours are Monday through Thursday 15 min before staff and 15 min after staff leaves. We have seasonal start times. 

Summer is 6-2:30 

Winter 7-3:30 

Friday’s until 12:30-1:30 depending on season. 

And Weekends off.

 Key Responsibilities of the Head Mechanic:
  • Maintains a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
  • Reviews expenses and purchases with department manager for approval. Places orders for parts/supplies as needed for equipment or service and tracks expenses and inventories for budget purposes.
  • Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Performs mower grinding/sharpening, performs general overhaul of motors, reels, install and adjusts braking systems.
  • Performs machining or welding work in making fittings used in repair of maintenance equipment.
  • Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered.
  • Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus. Skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of various types of mechanical repairs.
  • Diagnoses mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work.
  • Helps to control costs and expenses in the maintenance of the equipment fleet relating to parts purchases, inventory levels, service work, fuel inventories and related items.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Performs other duties as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications for the Head Mechanic:
  • Certificate from college or technical school.
  • Minimum of three (3) years head mechanic or assistant mechanic experience preferred.
Other Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver’s License, Mechanics Certificate from Gas and Diesel Engine Training Seminar.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
